Still Need a Nap?

Cara didn't take a nap one day this summer.  For the life of me I can't remember why she didn't get a nap on August 12, however I do remember asking her to go upstairs to go potty and wash her hands for dinner.  When it was unusually quiet up there and she didn't come down for dinner I went up to investigate.  This is where I found her...all curled up on the bathroom floor, fast asleep, sans her undies!
She is notorious for putting her Lovie in the stool (notice the bottom portion is wide open) when she wakes up in the morning.  Since she didn't have a nap that day it was still in there when she went up to go potty and wash her hands.  She CLEARLY is not following the rule:  "No Lovies in the bathroom (except in the stool)."
Unfortunately, she woke right up when I tried to transfer her to her bed...should have left her on the bathroom floor!

Lift Your Spirits in Duluth

The girls and I were in need of some major spirit lifting in late July.  Darren headed off to Washington D.C. for his LAST class :) so the girls and I headed to Duluth.
They were both fantastic travelers and were giddy when we pulled up to our hotel.
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us and we ended up spending most of our first day in the rain :(  However, the rain did not bother/stop us one bit!
We even hit the lift bridge at just the right time to see this huge ship pass underneath!

Due to the rain we ended up spending quality time at the Aquarium.  Although it made us think of Jeremy not one of us was all too impressed with the place.
I couldn't be more thankful for these girls...
The following day we spent the morning at the zoo.  If you look closely you'll be able to see the lioness on the other side of the glass!

 LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

After the zoo we hit up Lake Superior.  The girls had so much fun playing in the ice cold water.  If we didn't have to get home to Ollie we would have definitely stayed another day...or two.

Thank you, Brynn and Cara, for making a very difficult time for this Mama just a wee bit easier.  I don't know what I would do without you.  I love you millions and millions and bunches and bunches!!

T-Ball

This past summer Brynn participated in T-Ball every Tuesday night.  She was on a team of all boys except for her and one other little girl.  Initially I was really nervous about her not liking it.  Although she did not pay attention in the least she said she really liked playing and wants to play again this summer!
Getting some words of advice from her coaches.
While Brynn stares at the trees, grass, birds during T-Ball, Cara plays in the sand.

Walking back to first base after rounding to second.  The first few games she made it all the way home!...not because she should have but because she was in her own little world and didn't listen to anyone at any of the bases telling her she needed to stop and go back to first base!
Cara and Henry also practiced their quicks at the T-Ball games!
She may not have a clue what's going on out on the field (notice her glove is on the wrong  hand?) but she sure looks cute out there!

Dentist!

Cara went to the dentist for the first time in July.  She did much better than I thought she would (I think the preparations we did ahead of time-Cara going to watch Brynn at the dentist 6 months ago, reading lots of books about dentists, and doing lots of talking about what would happen at the dentist- really helped).

She was a champ the whole time!

Dr. Hankerson always takes a picture with kids on their first visit...
Brynn insisted she get a picture with Dr. Hank also!

Before D.C.

Brynn had been begging to go fishing all summer long. Before Darren went to Washington, D.C. he took time out of his very busy schedule to spend some time with his favorite ladies.
Honestly, the worms were the best part of the whole fishing process!

 We caught one!

 And another one!
Didn't I say the worms were the best part?!?

The second best part of the fishing was the ducks, they were plentiful...and hungry for the bread we brought!

Fun with the Olsons!

Our daycare was closed one day in June...that meant Evalyn and Elijah's daycare was closed too.  We were lucky enough to have them at our house for the day.  They are super easy kids so we will do it ANY TIME you need us to, Amanda and Jason!
We spent some time in the pool.
 Swinging.
 Checking out the neighbors's pool.
 Playing on the swingset.

 Taking care of babies.
 Doing a little more swimming.

 Having some lunch.

Even Henry, Charlie, and Auntie Key stopped over for a bit.
We also worked on some activities while Cara and Evie napped!

SUPER fun day!
